Ambassador Sarac at the promotion of the book “Demolinguistics of the Spanish Language in Southeast Europe” |

Ambassador Irena Sarac attended the promotion of the book “Demolinguistics of the Spanish Language in Southeast Europe” held at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid. This study is part of the sixth edition of the collection “Spanish in Europe”, promoted by the Cervantes Institute in cooperation with the University of Heidelberg and the University of Zurich and with the participation of a large number of foreign authors - professors and research associates from the SEE region. The results of the research showed that more than 500,000 people speak Spanish in nine countries of Southeast Europe - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, with 93% of Spanish speakers living in just four countries in this region, which represent 71% of the total population: Greece (245,600), Serbia (87,300), Slovenia (71,950) and Croatia (65,600).

“Smart Green” Award for the “Digital Village” Project Presented in Madrid |

The President and CEO of the Spanish branch of the Korean company LG H. De Harais presented Ambassador Irena Šarac with the “Smart Green” Award for Serbia’s contribution to environmental protection, sustainability and innovative technologies for the “Digital Village” project.
In the botanical garden within the LG headquarters for Spain (and Portugal), Mr. De Harais and Ambassador Šarac symbolically planted a lemon tree sapling. In the conversation that followed, Ambassador Šarac presented Serbia’s main priorities and most important results in the aforementioned areas, with a special focus on achievements in innovative technologies in the field of agriculture, and in this regard, on the qualities and achievements of the “Biosens” Institute in Novi Sad, as well as on the construction of the BIO4 campus in Serbia.

Reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Serbia and the Day of the Armed Forces of Serbia |
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Kingdom of Spain, together with the military and police attache, organized on February 19 of this year a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Serbia and the Day of the Armed Forces of Serbia, with the distinguished presence of the guest of honor, the Minister of the Interior of Spain Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
After the intonation of the national anthems of Serbia and Spain, the first to welcome the guests was Ambassador I. Šarac, who in her speech of welcome highlighted the excellent bilateral relations and successful cooperation between Serbia and Spain, expressing gratitude to Spain for its principled position on non-recognition of the *Kosovo and the support it provides to the Republic of Serbia on its European integration path. Ambassador Sarac also referred to the good relations and cooperation of the Republic of Serbia with Principality of Andorra, where she is accredited as a non-resident ambassador.
The formal part of the award ceremony for the members of the Spanish Civil Guard and the National Police for their merits awarded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia ended with a lengthy speech by the Minister of the Interior F. Grande-Marlaska, who spoke highly of the excellent bilateral relations between our two countries, with an emphasis on the extremely successful police cooperation, primarily focused on the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking and illicit arms trafficking, particularly emphasizing the importance and role of the Joint Investigation Team.
The reception was attended by around 300 guests – officials from the Spanish and Madrid governments, representatives of Spanish political, military, economic, cultural and academic institutions, the diplomatic and military corps, police delegations, as well as the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community in Spain.
